What does “DBA” mean on a contract?

DBA (Doing Business As):
A DBA is a name a business uses that’s different from its official legal name. For example, if “Jane Smith LLC” runs a coffee shop called “Campus Brew,” the business might file a DBA for “Campus Brew.” It helps the business operate under a more recognizable or brand-friendly name without creating a new legal entity.

Why it matters in a contract:
If a business is listed with a DBA in your contract, you’re still dealing with the legal entity behind it. Make sure both the DBA and the legal name are clearly listed so you know who’s responsible.
