Do you have a standard disclaimer notice we can post in our parking lot?
We don’t have one single standard notice, but we do recommend posting signage as a best practice, paired with reasonable upkeep of the parking area itself (adequate lighting, clear sightlines, etc.). Keep in mind that a well-written sign supports notice and helps with risk mitigation, but it does not eliminate liability — especially in cases of negligence.
If you’d like to post a sign, here are the core elements we suggest including:
- Private property — park at your own risk.
- The chapter and house corporation are not responsible for personal injury or property damage, including theft, to vehicles or their contents. All vehicles and their contents are parked at the owner’s own risk.
- This parking area is not monitored or secured.
